Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Rent Ledger (the "App"), operated by SmartEdge. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. Who Can Use Rent Ledger

Rent Ledger is intended for adults managing rental properties, either as a property owner or as staff (a "watchman") given access by an owner. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter, and for keeping your login credentials secure.

2. Accounts and Roles

Owner accounts have full access to their own buildings, tenants, financial records, and staff management.
Watchman/staff accounts are created and controlled by an owner, and have access limited to the buildings the owner assigns. An owner may revoke this access at any time.
You log in using a one-time code sent by SMS (and optionally email) — there's no traditional password to remember.

3. Your Data

You own the property, tenant, and financial records you enter into Rent Ledger. We store and process this data to provide the App's functionality, as described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for having any necessary rights or consents to enter information about tenants or staff into the App.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Rent Ledger offers a free trial period, followed by optional Monthly or Yearly paid subscriptions ("Pro") that unlock additional features.
Subscriptions are billed and managed through Google Play. Google Play's own terms and refund policies apply to the purchase itself.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date, through your Google Play account settings.
We may change subscription pricing going forward; existing subscribers will be notified of any change before it applies to them.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Rent Ledger to:

Violate any applicable law, including data protection or tenancy laws in your jurisdiction
Enter false, fraudulent, or misleading information about tenants, payments, or properties
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or data
Interfere with or disrupt the App's operation or infrastructure

6. Service Availability

We aim to keep Rent Ledger available and reliable, including offline support for recording payments without an internet connection. However, we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and the App may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances outside our control.

7. Limitation of Liability

Rent Ledger is a tool to help you track and organize rental information — it doesn't provide legal, tax, or financial advice. To the extent permitted by law, SmartEdge is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including disputes with tenants or staff, or errors in data you've entered.

8. Termination

You may stop using the App and request account deletion at any time — see our Account Deletion page for details. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post any changes on this page with an updated revision date. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
